ST.PAUL -- The Chicago Blackhawks continue to lead the Minnesota Wild 1-0 after the second period at the Xcel Energy Center.
There was no scoring in the second despite multiple minutes on the power play for the visitors. The Hawks opened and closed the middle 20 minutes with the man advantage but did little with it.
The story of the period was the play of Corey Crawford. Hardly tested in the first half of the game, as soon as the Wild went on a power play of their own, he made some big saves. He stopped both Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi on point blank chances and made about six good saves in a manner of a couple minutes. He was that good.
But the Hawks' power play has been lackluster. In 11 minutes of time they have no goals on six shots. Jamal Mayers scored the lone goal of the game back in the first period but was the victim of a nasty head-butt by Nate Prosser who was tossed out.
