DENVER -- Chicago Blackhawks rookie goaltender Antti Raanta didn't exactly get a lot of time to sit, watch and ease his way onto NHL ice for the first time.

He got 13 minutes, 17 seconds to be exact.

Raanta jumped off the bench and secured himself in front of the Hawks' net on Tuesday night at the Pepsi Center after the Colorado Avalanche barraged starter Corey Crawford for three goals in less than 14 minutes, including two scores that were less than a minute apart.

The rookie netminder was called up from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL after Nikolai Khabibulin suffered a lower-body injury in a 7-2 loss to the Nashville Predators on Saturday.

The Blackhawks signed Raanta to a one-year contract in June after he was the regular-season and playoff MVP of the SM-liiga in Finland last season. Since, the 24-year-old has gone 7-5-0 and has had a .914 save percentage with the Icehogs.

Bryan Bickell also left the game for the Hawks in the first period after he went back-first into the right bar of Avalanche's goal. The specific injury is still unknown.
The Avalanche lead the Hawks 3-0 after the first period.
