Prospect Watch: Broadhurst excelling

By Scott Powers

Here's a look at how some of the Chicago Blackhawks' prospects are doing this season:

Alex Broadhurst, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL)
Broadhurst was rewarded for his play this season when he was called up to the Blackhawks last week. He was reassigned back to the IceHogs on the same day, but he hasn't let that affect him with three points in his last three games. He has five goals and nine assists on the season and is second on the team with 14 points.

Drew LeBlanc, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL)
LeBlanc had a goal and an assist in the IceHogs' 4-2 loss to the Abbotsford Heat on Wednesday, snapping a streak of seven games without a point. He has four goals and five assists on the season.

Brandon Whitney, goaltender, Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL)
Whitney hasn't been getting much help defensively this season, and his goals-against average has paid for it. He has a 3.62 goals-against average and .896 save percentage. He's faced 30-plus shots in six starts in November. He made 46 saves in a 5-2 loss to Val-d'Or on Nov. 6. He's given up just two goals in his last two starts and made a combined 69 saves in the two games.

Teuvo Teravainen, forward, Jokerit (SM-liiga)
Teravainen has recorded points in two of the past three games. Jokerit has only played four games in November, but its schedule will pick up starting this week. He has three goals and 10 assists in 18 games this season.

Anthony Louis, forward, Miami Ohio (NCAA)
Louis, a freshman, came through with the game-winner for the RedHawks in their 2-0 win over Wisconsin on Friday. He scored in the second period to put them ahead. He has four goals and two game-winners on the season.

Travis Brown, defenseman, Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL)
Brown has tallied points in three of his past four games. He's recorded a point in 20 of 27 games this season and leads the Warriors with 28 points and 20 assists. He also has eight goals and a minus-13 rating.

Nick Mattson, defenseman, North Dakota (NCAA)
Mattson, a junior, had an assist and a team-high four blocks in North Dakota's 4-2 win over Minnesota Duluth on Friday. He has five points and 11 blocks on the season.

Kevin Hayes, forward, Boston College (NCAA)
Hayes, a senior, notched two assists in Boston College's 5-1 win over Harvard on Wednesday. He's tied for second on the team with 18 points, which includes six goals and 12 assists.
