Versteeg’s role has been diminished throughout the playoffs. He played on the fourth line and had 8:49 of ice time in Game 5 on Friday. He has two assists and a zero rating in the series. He had 10 goals, 19 assists and a plus-9 rating in 63 regular-season games for the Blackhawks after being acquired from the Florida Panthers in November.
Nordstrom had played in the series. He had one goal, two assists and a minus-2 rating in 16 regular-season games for the Blackhawks. He spent a majority of the season with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.
Nordstrom played four shifts and 2:07 of ice time in the Blackhawks' 5-1 win on Sunday. He did not play in the second period.
“Sometimes you look at all things,” Quenneville said after the game. “Certainly [Verteeg’s] got some options that you don’t mind having in our lineup. We got [Nordstrom] in there involved, and he got a taste of it as well. We’ll see how we progress with it.”
