2013-14 cap hit: $577,500 | Age: 22 | Season stats: 20 goals, 19 assists, plus-12

Season recap: Shaw took part in his first full regular season since coming up as a rookie in 2012. He set new career-highs in goals, assists and points. He was again a steady force for the Blackhawks as their third-line center and in front of the net on the power play.

Season highlight: Shaw ended the playoffs on a three-game points streak. He had four points and was a plus-4 during that span. He played well alongside Brandon Saad and Patrick Kane.

Season lowlight: Shaw missed seven playoff games due to a lower-body injury he suffered in Game 1 of the second round.

Final grade: B

Inside the numbers: Shaw tied Bryan Bickell with a team-high 55.0 Corsi percentage in the playoffs (extraskater.com).

Notes: The one area the Blackhawks would like Shaw to improve on is in faceoffs. He had a 43.3 faceoff winning percentage in the regular season. He was at 44 percent last season.

Quotes: "My girlfriend is probably upset," Shaw on who he was talking to while out with his injury. "Past two weeks I probably put her through hell. She's excited for me to be out there, as well."

What's next: The Blackhawks took care of Shaw's extension during the season and is signed through two more seasons. He could get a chance to be the team's second-line center to start next season.
