Scott Strazzante/Chicago Tribune/MCTPatrick Kane has seven points on the power play this season.
Here’s a look at some of the Chicago Blackhawks' numbers through 15 games this season:
0.1: The difference in the Blackhawks’ faceoff percentage from last season to this season. The Blackhawks won 50.8 percent of their faceoffs last season and have won 50.9 this season. They currently rank 15th in the league. The Blackhawks have a chance to climb in percentage when Michal Handzus returns from injury if Handzus and Marcus Kruger center different lines. Kruger’s faceoff ability has been one of the season’s surprises. He’s won 51.5 percent this season after being at 46.2 percent last season. Michal Handzus was at 53.6 percent before his injury and has traditionally been reliable at the dot.
56.3: The Blackhawks’ Corsi for percentage this season in 5-on-5 situations. Puck possession time isn’t kept, so one of the best tools to determine how much puck possession a team has is by Corsi, which is the total of goals, shots on net, missed shots and blocked shots. By using this calculation, the Blackhawks have been dominating the puck. They have a 750 Corsi for and a 581 Corsi against in 5-on-5 situations and rank second in Corsi for percentage. Only the Los Angeles Kings have a better percentage.
