Prospect watch: Darling helps IceHogs get back on track

Here’s a look at how some of the Chicago Blackhawks’ prospects are doing throughout the world:

Scott Darling, goaltender, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), signed as a free agent in 2014

Darling, 26, had 23 saves on 24 shots in a 2-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday and 29 saves on 30 shots in a 2-1 win over the San Antonio Rampage on Sunday. He is 13-7-2 with a 2.16 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage for the IceHogs this season. The IceHogs snapped a three-game losing streak and won all three games over the weekend and are in fourth place in the Western Conference with a 29-16-4-2 record and 64 points.

Ville Pokka, defenseman, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), acquired from Islanders in 2014

Pokka, extended his points streak to five games over the weekend. He had one goal and three assists in the IceHogs’ three wins. He has seven goals, 16 assists and is a plus-4 in 45 games this season.

Joakim Nordstrom, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), drafted 3rd round in 2010

Nordstrom, 22, had a goal and an assist in his first games back with the IceHogs last weekend. He has nine goals, six assists and is a plus-1 in 20 games in the AHL this season.

Teuvo Teravainen, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), drafted 1st round in 2012

Teravainen, 20, had two assists in his first games since returning from the NHL. He has six goals, 19 assists and is a minus-4 in 36 games in the AHL this season.

Brandon Mashinter, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), acquired from Rangers in 2013

Mashinter, 26, scored goals for the IceHogs in wins on Saturday and Sunday. He has 10 goals, 10 assists and is a minus-1 in 45 games this season.

Peter Regin, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), acquired from Islanders in 2014

Regin, 28, had a goal and an assist for the IceHogs over the weekend. He has six goals, 17 assists and is minus-1 in 46 games this season.

Mac Carruth, goaltender, Indy Fuel (ECHL), drafted 7th round in 2010

Carruth, 22, had his nine-game winning streak snapped on Saturday. He stopped 21-of-24 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday. He is 10-10-2-2 with a 2.50 goals-against average and .913 save percentage in the ECHL this season.

Mike Paliotta, defenseman, Vermont (NCAA), drafted 3rd round in 2011

Paliotta, a senior, had three assists against Boston College last weekend. He has eight goals, 22 assists and is a plus-13 in 30 games this season. He’s third in the nation among defensemen in assists.

Vince Hinostroza, forward, Notre Dame (NCAA), drafted 6th round in 2012

Hinostroza, a sophomore, had a goal and an assist in Notre Dame’s 2-0 win over Providence on Friday. He had his eight-game points streak snapped on Saturday. He had 16 points during the steak. He leads the Irish with 26 assists and 33 points in 32 games. He’s tied for fifth in the country in assists.

Luke Johnson, forward, North Dakota (NCAA), drafted 5th round in 2013

Johnson, a sophomore, compiled four assists in North Dakota’s two games against Denver last weekend. He has six goals, 12 assists and is a plus-10 in 29 games this season.

Nick Mattson, defenseman, North Dakota (NCAA), drafted 6th round in 2010

Mattson, a senior, scored a goal and had an assist against Denver last weekend. He is on a career-best five-game points streak. He has nine points and is a plus-6 in his last 11 games. He has two goals, nine assists and is a plus-6 in 20 games this season.

Nick Schmaltz, forward, North Dakota (NCAA), drafted 1st round in 2014

Schmaltz, a freshman, had a goal and an assist against Denver last weekend. He has four goals, 17 assists and is a plus-1 in 25 games this season.

Anthony Louis, forward, Miami Ohio (NCAA), drafted 6th round in 2013

Louis, a sophomore, had an assist in each of Miami’s wins over Colorado College over the weekend. He has five goals, 16 assists and is a plus-7 in 25 games this season.

John Hayden, forward, Yale (NCAA), drafted 3rd round in 2013

Hayden, a sophomore, scored a goal in Yale’s 2-0 win over Union on Friday. He sat out Saturday’s game against Rensselaer. He has six goals, 11 assists and is a plus-4 in 21 games this season.

Jack Ramsey, forward, Penticton Vees (BCHL), drafted 7th round in 2014

Ramsey, 19, broke out of a six-game points slump by scoring two goals and dishing out one assist in two games last weekend. He has 15 goals and 22 assists in 50 games this season.
