Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau did not have an update on Hinrich’s status after the game.
“He’ll be re-examined (Sunday)” Thibodeau said.
Hinrich was 0-for-4 from the field with three assists and one foul in 10:47 before he departed. He has averaged 5.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and five assists through six games this season.
Hinrich also endured a strained groin in the preseason and missed the final preseason game.
Hinrich was acquired in the offseason to start at point guard until Derrick Rose returns from his ACL injury.
Hinrich has had injury troubles in the past. He had left shoulder surgery last season and missed the first 18 games with the Atlanta Hawks. During his first stint with the Bulls, he missed 31 games after having surgery on his right thumb during the 2008-09 season.
Bulls backup point guard Nate Robinson filled in for Hinrich on Saturday and had 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal and five turnovers in 31 minutes. Rookie point guard Marquis Teague also played 6:13 and had two points and one rebound.
Robinson said he would be prepared to start in Hinrich’s place if needed.
“Whatever coach needs me to do, I’m going to do it,” Robinson said. “I know Marquis will be ready, myself included. We’re just going to be playing our hearts out. Hope we hold it down until (Hinrich) gets back, as well as D-Rose.”
CHICAGO -- Chicago Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich suffered a right hip strain in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and did not return to the game.
