"We want him focusing in on his rehab right now," Thibodeau said. "Sometimes jumping around from city to city ... I want him in one place."
Rose tore his ACL in his right knee while driving to the basket against the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of last year's playoffs. Previously, the Bulls had said that Rose would travel with the team on occasion but Thibodeau said an extended road trip just isn't the right time to bring him.
The Bulls have set no timetable for his return and he is not yet practicing with the team.
Rose has been rehabbing both at the Berto Center in Deerfield and in Chicago. He'll continue with daily sessions while the team embarks on its road trip.
