Chicago Bulls guard Nate Robinson was named Eastern Conference player of the week after averaging 17.8 points and helping lead the Bulls to a 3-1 record last week while they were severely short-handed because of injuries.

Robinson tied for second in the East with 2.50 steals per game and was third with 6.8 assists per game. He scored in double figures in 10 consecutive games.

The award was something the diminutive point guard was very proud of.

"It's a blessing from God, man," Robinson said. "I couldn't do it without my teammates so that player of the week (award) goes to my teammates, not me. My teammates did a great job of making me look good. I couldn't do it by myself, but it's an honor on top of that. I think it's the first time in my career ever getting an award like that and for me it's humbling. At the same time it just makes me more hungry to go out and contribute for my team and play as hard as I can for as long as I can."

Robinson appreciated the fact that he won the award for his play, not just his dunking ability. He is only player to ever win the Slam Dunk contest three times.

"It's about time," he said. "Everybody wants me to dunk, I (won't) dunk that much if people get off my back about dunking. I dunk in the dunk contest. There's no defenders, I don't have to run up and down the court and be tired. It's just dunking. For me, I try to give the fans what they want, sometimes when the time is right it's a spur-of-the-moment (occurrence,) but I do way more than just dunking. I'm a basketball player. I'm a complete basketball player. I just go out and have fun and play as hard as I can."
