INDIANAPOLIS -- Let's take a quick look at how the Indiana Pacers earned a 111-101 win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

How it happened: David West scored 29 points, pulled down nine rebounds and dished out four assists as the Pacers pulled out a hard-fought win. Marco Belinelli gutted out 24 points on a sprained right ankle but the Bulls simply couldn't make enough defensive stops to bother the Pacers. Carlos Boozer looked rusty after missing the past three games because of a right hamstring injury -- shooting just 4 for 12 from the field.

What it means: Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau is going to be very upset when he watches tape from this game. The Bulls just didn't play with the type of defensive edge Thibodeau wants. They gave up too many points early and couldn't dig themselves out of the hole. The Bulls deserve credit for grinding this game all the way to the end without Joakim Noah (plantar fasciitis in right foot) and Kirk Hinrich (right elbow), but the defense was lacking early and it never quite recovered. The Pacers outrebounded the Bulls 47-35 and made the big plays down the stretch. Belinelli deserves a lot of credit for playing through an ankle injury.

Hits: Nate Robinson had 19 points, nine assists and five rebounds.

Misses: Luol Deng had an off night, shooting just 4-for-18 from the field.

Stat of the night: The loss snapped an NBA record-tying streak of 41 straight games in which the Bulls won when scoring at least 100 points.

What's next: The Bulls head back to Chicago for a couple days before facing off against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night in Denver.
