DEERFIELD, Ill. – While there still remains no return date scheduled for Derrick Rose, the Chicago Bulls point guard huddled with the starters after Saturday’s shootaround and then had an extended discussion with head coach Tom Thibodeau.
“He’s doing great, doing great,” Thibodeau said. “He just has to keep improving every day. That’s the encouraging thing. He has a great frame of mind. He’s improving. The team has to keep on working on their improvement. Taj (Gibson) had a great workday so that’s all encouraging.”
Gibson has been out since Sunday with a sprained left knee.
As for Rose, who hasn't played since last season's playoffs, Thibodeau was asked if his improvement is on the physical side as his knee injury heals or is an indication that his skills are getting better.
“Both,” Thibodeau said. “He’s right where he should be. He’s put a lot of work into his shooting. Obviously with the time off it game him extra time to do that, but in all areas he’s really worked hard on his body. He’s come along well.”
