MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Let's take a quick look at how the Chicago Bulls earned a 95-91 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night at FedEx Forum.
How it happened: Jimmy Butler led the Bulls with 26 points and four rebounds while Carlos Boozer chipped in with 21 points and 10 rebounds as Chicago ground this game out down the stretch. Mike Conley had 26 points and nine assists to lead the Grizzlies, but they didn't make enough stops down the stretch to close the game.
What it means: This victory has to feel especially good for Tom Thibodeau. The Bulls coach missed shootaround on Monday morning to attend his father's funeral in Connecticut. He said before the game that his father would have wanted him to coach the contest. The Bulls did their part by building up an 18-point lead and hanging tough as Memphis made a run in the second half. The key for the Bulls is that Butler played much better and got to the free throw line throughout the night. The third-year swingman has been hampered by a toe injury over the past month, but he did not let that stop him Monday night.
Hits: D.J. Augustin had 10 points and nine assists off the bench for the Bulls.
Misses: Zach Randolph was just 4-for-15 from the field for the Grizzlies. As a team, Memphis was 0-for-5 from beyond the arc.
Stat of the night: The Bulls and Grizzlies combined for 42 turnovers.
What's next: The Bulls are right back at it Tuesday night when they take on the Toronto Raptors at the United Center.
