CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Let's take a quick look at how the Chicago Bulls squeaked out an 89-87 win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday night at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

How it happened: D.J. Augustin had 28 points and three assists to lead the Bulls to the win. Joakim Noah almost had another triple-double, going for 11 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Al Jefferson led the Bobcats with 32 points and 13 rebounds and was a force down low, but it wasn't enough for a struggling Charlotte team.

What it means: Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau is fond of saying he's not into aesthetics in a game, just that his team finds a way to win. Saturday night's brickfest was a perfect example of that. Both squads failed to make shots all night, but the Bulls ramped up their defensive pressure in the second half and hit shots when they needed them. Augustin continues to be a bright spot for a Chicago team that wasn't expecting much when it signed him. He was 6-for-12 from beyond the arc and has the ability to stretch out the rest of the floor for his teammates. He has won several games for the Bulls in recent weeks, and this one was just the latest.

Hits: Taj Gibson had 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

Misses: The Bobcats were just 3-for-16 from beyond the arc.

Stat of the night: The Bobcats outscored the Bulls 44-26 in the paint ... and still lost.

What's next: The Bulls take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night at the United Center before heading out on a two-week road trip.
