Rose heats up, Bulls lead at the half

12/25/2011

Derrick Rose didn't score in the first quarter Sunday, but he heated up in the second and fueled a run that put the Chicago Bulls ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers 56-49 at the half.

Rose finished the first half with 10 points and four assists and said the difference in the second quarter was patience.

"Just be more efficient," Rose said at the half. "I think last year at the end I wasn't efficient. I'm taking less shots, making sure I make my shots, take my time on the offensive end to get people involved in the game."

Rose said it felt great to be playing again.

"It felt good, especially playing with my teammates," he said. "We have new teammates with (Rip Hamilton and Jimmy Butler), and we're just trying to come out here and play hard and compete."
