Include Charles Barkley in the chorus of people who believe the Chicago Bulls should give coach Tom Thibodeau a lucrative extension.
"I don't know what you're doing in Chicago with your coach, it's just incredible with what he's done," Barkley said Wednesday on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. " For that team to have the best record in the NBA is ridiculous.
"That team is the most competitive team in the NBA. They compete on every possession. He coaches them. He demands a lot. They're well coached. They're very unselfish. What he's done there is really remarkable.
"I don't know what Gregg Popovich makes, but (Thibodeau) should be one of the top five paid coaches in the NBA."
Multiple reports stated Thibodeau was unhappy that he had not received an extension yet. Bulls brass said one was being negotiated before the season started and then was tabled until after the season. The Bulls front office said it wants Thibodeau around well beyond his current contract. With no head coaching experience, Thibodeau signed a two-year deal with a team option for a third before last season.
