Point guard Patrick Beverley has worked out for three NBA teams, including the Chicago Bulls, and is still examining his options for next season, his agent said on Monday.
The 24-year Beverley, a Chicago native, played for Spartak Saint Petersburg in Russia last season and was named the EuroCup MVP. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and played for the Miami Heat in the 2010 summer league, but he has yet to play in the NBA. He’s played overseas since leaving Arkansas after his sophomore season in 2008.
Beverley, a 6-foot-1 point guard, has worked out this offseason for the Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets.
“I think there’s a great deal of unknown,” Beverley’s agent Kevin Bradbury said on Monday. “Their rosters are in a bit of a flux right now, and we’ll see how it shapes up and what the best fit is.”
Bradbury believed Beverley could be an ideal player for his hometown Bulls.
Beverley starred at Marshall High School on Chicago’s West Side.
“He plays defense and does what’s asked of him,” Bradbury said. “He fits the Bulls’ system. I think that’s intriguing for the Bulls. He really respects [Tom Thibodeau.]”
Bradbury also thought Beverley’s long road to the NBA would be a positive for him in the long run.
“He’s seen a lot,” Bradbury said. “He’s had to struggle. He will do whatever it takes to get there. Even though you get a rookie, he’s had experience.”
Beverley recently tweeted he didn’t think he would be returning to Spartak, but Bradbury said Spartak was still a possibility for him next season. Bradbury said they would weigh Beverley’s options based on what was best for him.
“Whether it’s this year or next year he plays in the NBA, we’re going to find the best fit for him,” Bradbury said.

Could Sterling have been in San Antonio on other business, on a Sunday, two rounds after Clips eliminated? If so, that's a first for him

Clips, I'm told, have NOT asked to interview Spurs' in-demand Mike Budenholzer. Suggests Sterling was thus scouting free agent-to-be Hollins

Hottest theory circulating here in San Antonio is that Donald Sterling was at Game 1 sitting across from Grizz bench to scout Lionel Hollins
