DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah was not at practice Sunday afternoon because of personal reasons. His status for Tuesday night's preseason opener against the Memphis Grizzlies is uncertain.

"We'll see," Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said. "It's just a personal matter that he's dealing with. Not sure yet (of his return) ... He'll be out for a couple days. Hopefully he'll be back, he might be back (Monday). I don't know."

While Thibodeau didn't discuss the exact reason for Noah's absence, Noah did acknowledge during Bulls media day that his grandmother passed away Monday morning.
