Hinrich expects to play Monday vs. Grizzlies

By Nick Friedell

DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Chicago Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich practiced Sunday and expects to play in Monday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Hinrich, who has missed the last two games because of a left knee bruise, went through all of Sunday's practice and sounds optimistic about his return.

"I'm feeling better," Hinrich said. "I made some good progress, just continue to treat it and hopefully get ready to go. ... The way I went today, I plan on [playing]."

The knee injury is the fifth different injury Hinrich has dealt with since the beginning of the season. He has also suffered hip, elbow, thumb and groin injuries. Hinrich said the knee injury occurred in the third quarter of Tuesday night's game when he banged knees with Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul.

"It seemed like a normal bruised knee and once I got in the airplane it started bothering me all around the knee," he said. "It started swelling up, it was really swollen, and it's been hurting since.

Nate Robinson started in place of Hinrich the past two games, but rookie guard Marquis Teague has been catching eyes with his play.

"I'm impressed," Hinrich said of Teague. "He seems so poised. Sometimes you forget that he's just 19. He's done a great job."
