Boozer earns player of week honors

By Nick Friedell

CHICAGO -- Chicago Bulls power forward Carlos Boozer was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

Boozer is in the best stretch of his tenure with the Bulls, averaging 23 points and 14.8 rebounds over the past week. He has recorded double-doubles in 11 of his last 12 games. In Friday night's win over the Boston Celtics Boozer racked up 19 points and 20 rebounds.

Without Derrick Rose on the floor, Boozer has become the Bulls' biggest offensive weapon and most consistent threat since the new year. He insists nothing has changed in his game, but Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau and his teammates note that they are doing a better job seeking Boozer out early in games.

"I think the last month he's been incredible," Bulls guard Richard Hamilton said recently of Boozer. "I think we're doing a better job of getting him the ball where he's comfortable. We got a lot of new pieces and a lot of new players and Thibs is adjusting on the fly with trying to find out what different guy's roles is and things like that. So we're learning each and every day but he's been great the last month. He's been playing extraordinarily."

Kevin Durant was named Western Conference Player of the Week.
