Boozer away from Bulls on personal matter
By Nick Friedell
SAN ANTONIO -- Forward Carlos Boozer did not accompany the Chicago Bulls to San Antonio because of a personal matter but is scheduled to rejoin them in time for their game against the Spurs on Wednesday.
If Boozer is flying out of Chicago on Tuesday he'll have to wait, as more than 1,000 flights have been canceled because of a snowstorm.
Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich is day to day as he deals with a sore right foot and guard Richard Hamilton also did not make the trip because of a lower back injury.
Hinrich, who missed Sunday's game against the Indiana Pacers because of the injury, is still wearing a walking boot and was only expecting to ride a stationary bike during Tuesday's practice.
"I have a bunch of swelling in my foot," Hinrich said. "Just having trouble putting any sort of pressure on it. They really didn't give me a timetable as far as when to return, it's just a matter of the pain to be better and the swelling going down."
Hinrich, who has missed 16 games this season and dealt with seven different injuries, said the injury got progressively worse after Saturday's win over the Brooklyn Nets.
"It started Saturday night," he said. "My foot was hurting, I was having trouble sleeping, it was throbbing. I woke up in the morning, it was swollen and I couldn't put much pressure on it."
Hinrich is not optimistic about playing Wednesday.
"I would have to improve a lot from today to (Wednesday)," he said. "Right now I'm just having trouble putting any kind of pressure even when I walk on the pad on my foot."
Hamilton will miss his fourth straight game after being a late scratch against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday because of back spasms.
In other injury news, Taj Gibson is still out because of a strained MCL, but Thibodeau said he is improving. Nate Robinson is dealing with sore ribs after Sunday's game against the Indiana Pacers but Thibodeau said he would play Wednesday.
