Hinrich out vs. Warriors with foot injury
By Nick Friedell
SAN FRANCISCO -- Kirk Hinrich will not play Friday night as he continues to deal with a right foot injury.
The veteran point guard was optimistic about his chances to play after Thursday's practice, but said he woke up Friday morning and his foot was swollen again.
"I want to get out there as soon as I can, but (the foot) was pretty lit up (Thursday) night and this morning," he said. "So just keep doing the things they want me to do and hopefully it will be ready as soon as possible."
Hinrich, who was signed last summer to a two-year deal, has missed 20 games this season because of seven different injuries. His frustration was palpable as he received treatment on his foot.
"I've just been in and out (of the lineup)," Hinrich said. "And the elbow thing was tough because that wasn't even like a real injury in my mind, it was just kind of a freak deal. This is just one of those things I guess it's going to take a little bit of time for the bone to heal and to feel like where I can play at a level that could help the team."
Hinrich is hoping to be able to play Monday night against the Denver Nuggets but he isn't sure when he will be able to return to the lineup. The good news for him is that he is not expected to have to wear the walking boot that he wore over the past week.
"I was just told to kind of take it easy and hopefully it calms back down to where it was and start moving forward again."
Meanwhile, while Tom Thibodeau didn't formally announce it, Taj Gibson (knee) and Derrick Rose (ACL) are expected to miss Friday's game as well. Rip Hamilton (lower back) did not make the trip with his team as he continues his rehab.
