JVG: Teague needs time to develop
Jeff Van Gundy believes Marquis Teague needs time to mature before contributing to the Bulls.
Any Chicago Bulls fans thinking first-round draft pick Marquis Teague is going to play a significant role as a rookie might want to consider the words of Jeff Van Gundy.
The ESPN analyst joined ESPN 1000's "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on Friday and was discussing the Bulls' roster when he got to the position of back-up point guard. When Teague's name was mentioned, Van Gundy interrupted.
"No, no, he's not ... did you watch him in summer league? "Struggled" is being kind," he said. "That's not a knock. The 29th pick in the draft is such a hit-and-miss selection anyway. You have to give him time to grow and mature. But to think he's going to come in and play behind (Kirk) Hinrich next year ..."
Van Gundy thinks the Bulls would be fortunate to win 41 games, considering they'll be without Derrick Rose for much of next season.
