NU releases 2013, '14 football schedules

Northwestern released its 2013 and 2014 football schedules on Wednesday.

The Wildcats’ 2013 non-conference schedule opens at California (Aug. 31) and also includes a road game at Vanderbilt (Sept. 14) and homes games against Maine (Sept. 21) and Syracuse (Sep. 7).

In the Big Ten in 2013, the Wildcats will host Ohio State (Oct.5), Minnesota (Oct. 19), Michigan (Nov. 16) and Michigan State (Nov. 23) and they will travel to Wisconsin (Oct. 12), Iowa (Oct. 26), Nebraska (Nov. 2) and Illinois (Nov. 30).

Their 2014 non-conference schedule will begin by hosting California (Aug. 30) and also having home games against Vanderbilt (Sept. 13) and Western Illinois (Sept. 20). Northwester also has one more non-conference game to fill in 2014.

In the Big Ten in 2014, Northwestern will host Nebraska (Oct. 4), Wisconsin (Oct. 18), Iowa (Nov. 8) and Illinois (Nov. 29) and will travel to Minnesota (Oct. 11), Ohio State (Oct. 25), Michigan State (Nov. 1) and Michigan (Nov. 22).

"We are extremely excited about the future of our football program, and our upcoming schedules in 2013 and 2014 will provide a tremendous opportunity for our student-athletes and coaches to compete against the nation's very best," Northwestern athletic director Jim Phillips said in a statement. “In addition to providing our student-athletes with the best competition, I fully believe that fans of Chicago's Big Ten team will be excited with the quality of opponents scheduled to visit Ryan Field in those two seasons."
