Appleton East (Wis.) senior forward Sam Mader committed to Northern Illinois on Sunday.
Mader, a 6-10 forward, chose the Huskies over interest from Ball State, Drake, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
“The coaching staff really did it for me,” said Mader, who averaged 9.7 points last season. “They were great guys and extremely nice.”
Northern Illinois assistant Jon Borovich was the lead recruiter on Mader.
The Huskies now have two Class of 2012 commitments. Mader joins Garfield Heights (Ohio) shooting guard Mike Davis in the class.
