DePaul opened its to trip to France with a lopsided 118-77 win over Charenton on Saturday.
Blue Demons sophomore forward Cleveland Melvin, the Big East Rookie of the Year last season, scored a team-high 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds, blocked two shots and had four steals.
DePaul built a 23-10 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Blue Demons shot 63 percent from the field and connected on eight 3-pointers.
All of the Blue Demons found ways to contribute in the win. Sophomore guard Brandon Young (16 points, nine assists), sophomore forward Moses Morgan (15 points, five rebounds) and senior guard Jeremiah Kelly (14 points, nine assists, five rebounds, three steals) were among the statistical leaders. Freshmen Jamee Crockett (11 points), Derrell Robertson Jr. (six points, three blocks) and Montray Clemons (seven points) made their DePaul debuts.
DePaul will play again on Wednesday.
