Former Illinois basketball player Jereme Richmond has returned to jail after testing positive for marijuana, according to multiple reports on Friday.
Richmond had been out on bond and was awaiting trial for battery and weapon charges. He was arrested on Aug. 8 after allegedly threatening his ex-girlfriend and her father in front of their Waukegan home.
Richmond was a McDonald's All-American at Waukegan High School and was a prized recruit for the Illini. He played one season at Illinois before leaving school for the NBA draft. He was not selected in the 2011 draft.
A message left for Lake County assistant state's attorney James Newman and Richmond's lawyer Lawrence Wade were not immediately returned Friday afternoon.
The Chicago Tribune reported the news earlier Friday.
