Shurna, Sobolewski earn Big Ten honors

Northwestern's John Shurna and David Sobolewski received Big Ten weekly honors on Monday.

Shurna was named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week. He averaged 26 points in the Wildcats' wins over Nebraska and Illinois. He had 28 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals in the win over Nebraska on Thursday. In Sunday's win against Illinois, he had 24 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. He shot 20 of 28 from the field in the two games.

Sobolewski was named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week for the first time in his career. He averaged 14.5 points, four rebounds and 3.5 assists in the Wildcats' two games last week. He had 15 points, six rebounds and five assists against Nebraska and 14 points, two rebounds and two assists against Illinois. He didn't commit a turnover in 40 minutes against Illinois.

Ohio State's Jared Sullinger shared the honor with Shurna, and Iowa's Aaron White was also named Co-Freshman of the Week.
