The latest college football polls are out, and the news is as rough as expected for the Big Ten.

The league does not have a team in the top 15 of either the Associated Press or USA Today coaches' poll. Ohio State is the top-ranked team in the AP poll, at No. 16. But Ohio State actually dropped four spots after narrowly beating Cal at home Saturday. The Buckeyes are not eligible for the coaches' poll because of their probation, so Michigan is the lead Big Ten dog in that poll, at No. 17. The Wolverines are 18th in the AP, dropping a spot despite pounding UMass.

Michigan State, after its 20-3 loss to Notre Dame at home, fell from No. 10 to No. 21 in the AP and No. 20 in the coaches' poll. Nebraska jumped back in to the AP poll at No. 25 and moved up two spots in the coaches' rankings after blowing out Arkansas State.

Wisconsin is No. 24 in the coaches' poll. What, exactly, have the Badgers done to earn a ranking from the sports information directors and football ops ... er, coaches? No clue. Apparently barely escaping Northern Iowa and Utah State at home and losing to Oregon State on the road makes them a Top 25 team somehow.

Northwestern, despite starting 3-0 against teams from BCS AQ conferences, has yet to gain enough support to enter either poll. Minnesota (3-0) did not receive any votes.
