My pick for who will transform tomorrow is Notre Dame's offensive line.
What, we can't pick five guys?
OK, how about left tackle Zack Martin, who has been the heart and soul of a unit that has been as reliable as they come for undefeated Notre Dame?
The senior captain is a three-year starter. Whether he will be a four-year starter is a decision he will have to make at the end of this season, though at this rate the increasingly soaring draft stock and money that comes with it could make it an easy choice for the 6-foot-4, 304-pounder.
After the first game of the season, a 50-10 rout of Navy in Dublin, Martin emerged holding the game ball in his hand, a token to the effort each line put forth in a contest that saw the Irish out-rush the Midshipmen 293-149.
It's hard not to imagine a similar postgame scene this weekend after Notre Dame faces an atrocious Boston College rushing defense.
Cierre Wood, Theo Riddick and George Atkinson III figure to get plenty of touches, big numbers and trips to the end zone Saturday night, and Martin will be the man most responsible for them, opening holes and making adjustments along the way.
And, if this prediction is right, he'll have some makeshift-hardware to show off afterward for his sound efforts.
