INDIANAPOLIS -- Here’s a quick look at Penn State’s 36-33 win over Wisconsin in the Big Ten quarterfinals on Friday.

How the game was won: Made baskets were hard to come by in the day’s last quarterfinal. Wisconsin couldn’t score early and Penn State went on a 12-0 run to start the game. Penn State’s offense then deserted it, and Wisconsin responded with its own run to tie the game at 22-22. The Nittany Lions’ offense didn’t get much better, but they did enough to win the game.

Turning point: Tied at 26, Penn State went on a 4-0 run, and that would be enough separation for the Nittany Lions the rest of the way.

Player of the game: Penn State guard Tim Frazier's numbers weren’t large, but he provided the Nittany Lions with a bit of everything. He had eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and one steal and hit two clutch free throws in the second half.

Wisconsin players of the game: The Badgers scored 33 points, and Jordan Taylor and Jon Leuer combined for 26. That’s 79 percent for those without a calculator.

ESPN SportsCenter highlight of the game: Talor Battle had a rough day, shooting 3 for 18, but he sank the biggest shot of the game when he made a 3-pointer from the right wing with 2:35 remaining to put Penn State ahead 35-30.

What the game means: It wasn’t pretty, but Penn State pushed on in the Big Ten tournament. The Nittany Lions may not exactly be in the NCAA tournament yet -- double check with ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi on Saturday -- but they’re starting to sniff a bid. That could be bad news for Illinois and other teams on the bubble. For Wisconsin, it has struggled in its past two games, which included a 28-point loss to Ohio State in the regular-season finale. The Badgers have to hope they can turn it back on in the NCAA tournament.
