CINCINNATI -- Chicago Cubs center fielder Dexter Fowler will be back in the lineup on Friday night when the Cubs take on the Cincinnati Reds two days after straining his right groin, causing him to miss Thursday’s contest.
Fowler will also return to his customary leadoff spot in the batting order as pitcher Jon Lester makes his fourth appearance as a Cub. Lester is looking for his first quality start -- and victory -- with his new team and he’ll face speedster Billy Hamilton this time around. Hamilton is 9-of-10 in stolen-base attempts after swiping 56 last season. Hamilton didn’t start last week when the Reds visited Wrigley Field with Lester on the mound.
Here’s the rest of the Cubs' lineup, which includes rookies Jorge Soler, Kris Bryant and Addison Russell. The latter two are looking for their first career home runs. Chris Coghlan plays left field and bats fifth for Joe Maddon. Coghlan is 8-for-8 in his career off Reds starter Mike Leake.
