Chicago Cubs top prospect Anthony Rizzo left the Iowa Cubs game in the sixth inning after sliding into a fence chasing a pop foul on Tuesday. X-rays revealed Rizzo suffered a right knee contusion, but the injury isn't expected to be serious. Rizzo's status for a return is day-to-day.

Rizzo left under his own power and was replaced by Blake Lalli at first base during the Iowa Cubs' 9-4 loss to Omaha.

Cubs president Theo Epstein said Rizzo checked out OK structurally by trainers, and he will see an orthopedist.

“He bumped his knee ... he’ll be OK,” Iowa Cubs manager Dave Bialas told the Des Moines Register.

Rizzo entered Tuesday with two straight two-homer games and has six multi-home run games this season. He is tied for second in the Pacific Coast League with 22 home runs and is fifth with 57 RBIs while batting .367. He leads the minor leagues in slugging (.753) and OPS (1.182).
