Chicago Cubs prized prospect Anthony Rizzo was not in the Triple-A Iowa starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's game against Omaha a day after suffering a right knee contusion.
Rizzo hurt the knee sliding into a fence near the Omaha dugout trying to catch a pop foul on Tuesday. The injury is not expected to be serious, and the Cubs labeled Rizzo as day to day. Cubs president Theo Epstein said Tuesday that Rizzo will see an orthopedist.
Rizzo is tied for second in the Pacific Coast League with 22 home runs and is fifth with 57 RBIs while batting .367. He leads the minor leagues in slugging (.753) and OPS (1.182).
