Cubs' Jackson returns after missing a day

CHICAGO -- The good news for Brett Jackson is that he is back in the Chicago Cubs lineup after missing a day because of soreness in his shoulder and neck.

The bad news is that he returns to face Cincinnati Reds starter Johnny Cueto, who is not only third in the National League with a 2.58 ERA, but he is first in the NL in daytime ERA at 1.72. Cueto is second on the Reds in strikeouts at 124 behind Matt Latos' 130.

That last number is most relevant when talking about Jackson, who struck out in 11 of his first 18 at-bats in the big leagues.

The soreness that caused Jackson to miss a day happened in Friday’s game when he and shortstop Starlin Castro chased a wind-blown popup. Both players dove for the ball with Castro landing on Jackson’s right shoulder.
