Cubs put Matt Garza on 60-day DL

MILWAUKEE -- Matt Garza was put on the 60-day disabled list Tuesday and despite the fact that he will be eligible to return with eight games remaining in the season, the Chicago Cubs will not use him again this year.

“He’s shut down the rest of the season,” manager Dale Svuem said. “We won’t do anything there. The 60 days will be up because it’s retroactive, but he’s shut down.”
