A quick look at the Chicago Cubs' 7-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday at Wrigley Field.

How it happened: The Giants jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Cubs slowly chipped away then grabbed a 5-3 lead on Alfonso Soriano's three-run home run in the fifth. But a half-inning later, Brandon Belt's RBI triple and subsequent run scored on a Manny Corpas wild pitch tied the game back up at five. The Giants grabbed the lead for good in the ninth after a pair of RBI singles from Angel Pagan and Marco Scutaro.

What it means: With their 82nd loss through 133 games, the Cubs are officially back on track to reach the 100-loss mark for the first time since 1966 when they finished 59-103.

Outside the box: Soriano's home run was his 25th of the season, the fourth time he's done that as a Cub and the ninth time in his career. He becomes the 10th player to have four or more 25-homer seasons for the Cubs.

Up next: Jeff Samardzija (8-12, 4.03) takes the hill against Ross Detwiler (8-6, 3.32) as the Cubs head to Washington to face kick off a four-game set against the Nationals on Monday at 12:05 p.m. CT.
