“It’s always progressing, always getting better,” Garza said Sunday morning. “Now it’s just an annoying thing. There’s no pain, you just don’t want anything to bother you. Now it’s just a little spot that’s annoying.”
Garza hurt himself throwing a batting practice session last Sunday and the team is being cautious.
“I want to be out there as fast as I can but at the same time I have to make sure I’m ready to go before something flares up during the season,” Garza stated.
After missing half of last year with an elbow injury, Garza’s been chomping at the bit to get back out there and said he’d “pitch today” if they would let him, but he doesn’t want problems in April, “especially in the cold months.”
As for his first Cactus League start, Garza isn’t putting a date on it and doesn’t seem too concerned by it.
“The Cactus League, you don’t go to the postseason for that,” he said.
