CHICAGO -- With some restrictions to their scheduling lifted recently, the Chicago Cubs announced four Friday 3:05 p.m. start times.

The July 5 and July 12 games will start at 3:05 p.m. instead of 1:20 p.m. as will games on Aug. 2 and Aug. 16.

The Cubs and the City of Chicago came to an agreement this week on adding more night games starting next season as well as additional 3:05 p.m. start times for some Friday games.

Next season the Cubs will be allowed to schedule 35 night games, an increase of 16. That number could balloon to 46 based on national television requests.

The Cubs claim the additional 3:05 p.m. Friday start times will be more accommodating to the team in terms of travel and playing a day game after a night game. The first three Friday changes accommodate that. The Aug. 16 game comes after a day off.
