Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Marmol said Monday a civil lawsuit filed against him in the Dominican Republic by the woman who accused him of sexual assault in the offseason has been dropped.

Marmol, who had maintained his innocence, said the case was dropped a “couple of days ago.”

“It’s good for me,” he said after the Cubs’ 6-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Monday. “They dropped it.”

The news was first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday evening.

“It’s over,” Marmol said. “Feels great.”
