MESA, Ariz. – Chicago Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro went 2-for-5 with a walk in a minor league game Saturday as he continues his recovery from a strained hamstring.

Castro grounded out in his first two at-bats before doubling to right-center field, the first of two extra-base hits. As a precaution he didn’t run full speed out of the batter’s box and was replaced on the basepaths after reaching.

Between innings Castro did some running in an adjacent outfield under the eye of strength coach Tim Busse. Castro is scheduled to participate in another minor league game Sunday before being re-evaluated.

Castro has been out of the lineup since March 2, having played in just two Cactus League games all spring. On Saturday morning he reiterated his stance that he will be ready for the regular season.
