The Chicago Cubs called up Jeff Samardzija, Brad Snyder, Sam Fuld, Bobby Scales and Justin Berg on Tuesday from Triple-A Iowa after the Iowa Cubs were eliminated from playoff contention.
Carlos Silva also was activated from the disabled list to start Tuesday’s game against the Astros. It’s his first MLB start since an Aug. 1 procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat.
