Lineup: Lake, Olt to face righty Cole

CHICAGO -- As promised the day before, Chicago Cubs manager Rick Renteria has righties Mike Olt and Junior Lake in the lineup against right-handed starter Gerrit Cole of the Pittsburgh Pirates for Thursday afternoon’s rubber game of the series.

Until now Renteria has platooned those two with lefties Luis Valbuena and either Ryan Kalish or Ryan Sweeney. But Renteria doesn’t mind the matchup with the righty Cole on the mound.

“The splits are pretty even, but I think these are two young players; we’re trying to find spots to give them an opportunity to gain some confidence,” Renteria said before the game.

Left-handed and right-handed hitters have identical .251 batting averages against Cole in his career. Olt and Lake hit back-to-back home runs in the Cubs' 7-5 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.

Here is the entire Cubs lineup:

1. Emilio Bonifacio, 2B

2. Kalish, LF

3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B

4. Nate Schierholtz, RF

5. Lake, CF

6. Starlin Castro, SS

7. Olt, 3B

8. Welington Castillo, C

9. Travis Wood, P
