CINCINNATI -- Monday night's Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds game has been postponed due to rain. The contest was initially delayed 57 minutes before being called off. No make-up date has been announced.

Both the Cubs and Reds will keep their planned pitching rotation for the series. Jeff Samardzija will start Tuesday's game against Alfredo Simon, while Edwin Jackson is scheduled to pitch Wednesday against Tony Cingrani. The rainout will delay Jake Arrieta's season debut. He was originally slated for Wednesday's series finale.

Arrieta will be pushed back to the weekend, though Travis Wood will likely start Friday's series opener against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals.
