Talk of the Chicago Cubs trading Carlos Zambrano to the New York Yankees is all just conjecture, according to the pitcher's agent.

A New York Daily News report says the Yankees, who lost out on the top free-agent pitcher on the market when Cliff Lee signed with the Philadelphia Phillies, likely will target Zambrano.

Asked to comment on the report, Praver told ESPNChicago.com: "There is nothing new under the sun."

At last week's winter meetings in Orlando, Praver said the Cubs had not asked him or Zambrano to accept a trade, and Zambrano hasn't asked the Cubs to deal him. Zambrano has said he wants to stay with the Cubs at least until his contract ends after the 2012 season. Zambrano has five and 10 rights, meaning he must approve any deal before it's made.

Zambrano also has a clause in his contract that kicks in a guaranteed 2013 season at $19.25 million if he finishes first or second in Cy Young voting either in 2011 or 2012.

Zambrano finished 2010 going 8-0 -- including 4-0 with a 0.78 ERA in September -- after coming off the restricted list following a late June meltdown at U.S. Cellular Field against the White Sox. At the time, Zambrano signed on for eight months of anger management therapy as negotiated as part of the deal with Major League Baseball and the Cubs.
