On Sunday, the Cubs had half of their pitchers throwing in batting cages at their minor league complex at Fitch Park and the other half at their stadium a mile-and-a-half away at HoHoKam Park. The reason they did this was due to the rain that shortened the morning session.
Manager Lou Piniella said he expects right-handed pitcher Angel Guzman to be 7 to 10 days behind the other pitchers. Guzman is recovering from a meniscus repair in his knee.
With reporting day due on Monday for position players, the Cubs had alreay 21 of their 25-man roster in camp. Expected Monday are first baseman Derrek Lee, third baseman Aramis Ramirez, otufielder Alfonso Soriano and shortstop Starlin Castro.
Cubs owner Tom Ricketts will join his sister and two brothers in Mesa, Ariz., on Tuesday as they come to spring training for the first time as the owners of the club.
