MESA, Ariz. -- Chicago Cubs manager Mike Quade is not interested in talking about Marlon Byrd's relationship with former BALCO founder Victor Conte.
"Marlon is a huge part of this club," Quade said. "I expect him to take care of his own business, and it does me no good to concern myself with any of that."
Quade talked about his supplement use as a player and manager: "Eat right, I drink V8 and orange juice. I see protein drinks and once in awhile I'll take some of that. I was with Oakland when I think some of that stuff was going on. To me it was dedicated guys. Now you need a scorecard and a medical person. I just know orange juice and V8."
Cubs front office brass including board of directors member Todd Ricketts, general manager Jim Hendry, assistant GM Randy Bush and director of player personnel Oneri Fleita got a tour of the Colorado Rockies' and Arizona Diamondbacks' new spring training facility in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Wednesday. The Cubs are looking at different spring training camps to prepare and pick out what they want for their new facility, which should be ready in 2013.
