Cubs send catcher Ramirez to Iowa

MESA, Ariz. -- The Chicago Cubs sent catcher Max Ramirez to Triple-A Iowa after he cleared waivers on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old Ramirez, who was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox on Jan. 10, split the 2010 season between the Texas Rangers and their Triple-A Oklahoma City affiliate. He batted .217 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 28 games with the Rangers last season.

The Cubs' 40-man roster now stands at 37 players.
