PHILADELPHIA -- Here's a quick look at the Cubs' loss to the Phillies on Friday.
The good: The Cubs sent 10 men to the plate in the eighth inning, scoring five times. Aramis Ramirez and pinch-hitter Lou Montanez both drove in two runs in the frame. Leadoff hitter Kosuke Fukudome’s batting average went back over .300 with a pair of singles off Phillies starter Roy Halladay.
The bad: The Cubs failed to win three games in a row for the fourth time in 2011. Manager Mike Quade and Carlos Zambrano decided to walk Chase Utley with a man on second and one out. Zambrano then walked Ryan Howard setting up Placido Polanoc’s grand slam. Zambrano threw 128 pitches on the night, a season high.
