Chicago Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez was named National League player of the week after hitting .393 with six home runs and 10 RBIs.

Ramirez had struggled with home runs and RBIs until recently. His pinch-hit single in the ninth inning lifted the Cubs over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, and he homered off Giants closer Brian Wilson the following day to tie the game in the ninth. The Cubs went on to win 5-2 in 13 innings.
